Continued our shopping in Platinum before heading over to Paul’s tailor for the BF to do a fitting for his clothes.

We headed back to the hotel for a quick rest before heading out on our long journey to the new ‘suan lum night market’. That decision was a huge mistake, huge.

Even when the few taxis we flagged refused to take us, we persisted and walked the 15 mins to the BTS station to take the long ride to Punnawithi station. We had to walk around 10mins before reaching the newly opened Siam Paradise Night Market.

We settled for dinner at the open air food hall (think the old suan lum with a stage and live band music).Perhaps we were hungry after the long journey but the food we ordered was pretty good.

We proceeded to the shopping area only to be greeted by a ghost town. It was a rather huge compound but that night, about 90% of the shops had their shutters down and the one/two shops that I enquired, quoted me sky-high prices for the items I chose -_- (such a turn-off)

We left rather quickly and swore never to return.

I re-discovered the yummy street snacks along the street outside of Central world – the fried chicken wings and chicken skin. Omg – it was so damn shiok. Drools….

I often wonder, as I take the long walk with the early morning crowd at Raffles Place MRT, what would make of my life ten, twenty years down the road (if things work out fine, I should be contented with a husband driving us in a luxury car – the ‘typical Singaporean’ mentality). But what do I make of that nagging feeling of discontentment – the experiencing of ‘The Now’ rather than the planning of ‘The Should Be’.

It makes me laugh at how in the office, people are politicking and playing the game all to climb that corporate ladder. Seriously, what’s the point? Some people put work and all that power that comes with it at the center of their universe, I find it sad for them. They may have achieved great personal success but to me, some have failed in so many aspects of proper humane behaviours – like basic respect for others, like putting the interest of others first, spending quality time with family. I may be generalising but success doesn’t come without scarifices. I suppose.

I had a crazy idea the other day that The BF and I should drop everything and go study/explore the world – before it’s too late. It probably will never happen but I guess my point is, I can still start taking baby steps towards leading a life in ‘the present’.

Perhaps, I ain’t that ready as yet for marriage. I love the idea of reaping my investments after a 9 years lockdown of my money (;p) but at times I think of marriage and having kids a chore! Especially with such crazy ideas, a kid will probably mean leading a normal life!

There was a time when I had crazy business ideas but It has always stayed as it is – pages in a book, a average list of crazy ideas – nothing ever materialized out of it. I was never brave and might never be. I was taken aback when I told a group of my friends my ideas but felt snubbed. I told myself not to share these with uninspiring people – they just don’t get it.

Sorry for this crazy juxtaposition of random statements. I may sound depressed but am actually inspired to probably take steps to lead a more fulfilling life – to shift away from the typical Singaporean mentality.

October was our month of travelling – with 2 trips to Bangkok and Taiwan!
(with only 1.5weeks interval, you can imagine how disruptive this was to our work schedule and momentum).

Anyway, we had a great time in both – one we are so familiar with and the other new.

Our day one schedule:

1. Early morning flight – first time on Thai airways. Came as part of the deal we got.

2. Check in to P2 hotel – spacious room, basic necessities, inconvenient location, crappy and cold breakfast – oh well, we hardly spent time in it anyway but would not recommend the hotel due to its inaccessibility.

3. Paul’s Fashion at Amari Watergate – our hotel is located about a 10-15 mins walk from Platinum so this time round we decided to try a new tailor. Selection was not as wide as our usual Pinky’s but we definitely spent lesser time in selecting the fabrics. The Bf made quite alot of shirts and I must say, they were really quite nice.

4. Platinum – lunch and shopping

It started drizzling and we hurried back to the hotel only to head out when the rain subsided.

6. Siam – took a long stroll to the Siam area for pasar malam, roadside stall shopping

Staycation was at Movenpick – a relatively new hotel (they are still renovating another part of the hotel).

Cosy enough, a big comfy bed, free nespressos, bathtub and separate shower and toilet cubicles.

Hotel is quite convenient, a 3mins walk to the tram hence easily accessible to other parts of sentosa and a 8mins stroll to uss and resorts world.

Only complain is that the free breakfast was quite lousy because they didn’t bother replenishing the food. So when we headed there at 10ish, we were merely eating the remants and scraps left by other

The bf and I spent quality time together exploring the newly revamped Sentosa, challenging each other on the luge (he is a cheater btw), nice (abit expensive) dinner, beer by the beach and a heartwarming movie (3 idiots – highly recommended) to end the day.

Next day, breakfast, swim, checkout, stroll by beach and the underwater world

And now I am looking forward to October, Bangkok (our most favourite place in the world!!!!) for our annual shopping trip and taiwan (itineary being worked on).

I love, love travelling with the bf – we just stuff ourselves silly with food, food and more food!

Celebrating Papa’s birthday earlier this month before the bro left for his studies for one year in the USA.

Next year, hopefully we will be celebrating it overseas instead :p

It was a fantastic, yummylicious dinner at Imperial Treasure Teochew cuisine at Takashimaya. Especially liked the sharks’ fins soup and peking duck. Disliked this eggy shrimp thingy (gross) and the ee fu noodles. Sweet or-ni (very teochew) and shou tao for the dad to end the night.
