It was a little fate that led us to find this little hole-in-wall eatery that was listed on the itinerary that Wy sent. We were starving after the early morning flight, the long walk (including getting lost) to find our hotel and deciding between food or H&M. If we had seen any eateries along Central we would have popped in but there just weren’t any.
This is definitely a must-try in Hongkong. Don’t be put-off by the queue as it actually moves quite quickly as the turnover is pretty quick, but of course that means it is no place for you to chit chat. You order, you eat, you siam. Like all 茶餐厅 in HongKong, you would have to share with random people and deal with hurried ordering and eating. (this shop in particular is super efficient in their seating arrangements, experts in dinerdash!)
The seowsis and I ordered the famous chickenchop 出钱一丁 noodles, a pork chop bun and toast to share. Looking around, that was pretty much what everyone else (a good mix of locals and tourists) chose too.
The food arrived quickly and was gobbled down just as quickly. We left feeling satisfied, very satisfied. It was yums!
Lan Fong Yuen – No 4A-6, Gage Street 2, Central (Central Exit D2, turn right until you see 100 Queen’s Road Central, go up the escalator* and go up two sections to exit at Gage street).
Hello, frm Hong Kong

Hongkong Trip 2006 – 20 July to 24 July
A trip marred by a mistake I make. A trip that make me realise how dependent I am on my boyfriend and how blur I can be. A trip that made me hate a particular kinda people – those rude buggers marred my “fantasy”. A trip that wasn’t fantastically fun but also not extremely sucky. All in all, a good getaway from the doldrums of life.
20 July – Afternoon flight (from initial early morning flight, heavy price to pay)
Realised that I did not bring my ATM card and only my debit card (which I can’t remember the password!) So can’t exchange money. Had to run around and rush like mad to OCBC to see if I can withdraw money with my card! Failed and had to borrow money from his dad. Believe me, it was damn embarrassing, my first mistake. Felt so bad and of course, he scolded me like f*ck, damn pissed.
Anyway, made it to the airport in time and checked in. The budget concious us of course took Jetstar Asia with their very tiny seats (doesn’t affect me though) and their “pay if you want to eat”policy.
Anyway, landed in HK well into the night checked into YMCA hotel and rushed to find food. Settled for a restaurant we found in a shopping mall. Shopped around our hotel before calling it a day.
Second day – 21 July
Tourist attraction – Tian Tan Buddha, a huge and formidable buddha located on Lantau island. Travelled a 30-45 mins MRT and a 45 mins bus ride up. The bus ride was like China, winding roads and travelling near the edge of the road. But cool! I like.
Prayed for good health for family and friends. Afterwhich it was fun ride down again (well, at least for me). Zh sleeping, Tat Nei dying, Shuzhan thinking of puking. Hehe.
Shopped at the mall near the MRT where factory outlets for Levis’, Nike ,Adidas and Espirit was.
Travelled back to Kowloon. The boys had enough of rides and decided to go shopping instead so baby and I went to the peak!! where Mdm Tussaud musuem is.
Had to queue for damn long for the tram ride but it’s worth it, cause the view was breathtaking! Had fun at the wax museum too.

Breathtaking view from the top
Met up with the boys for dinner and shopped more!! Went to the “cha chan ting” for dinner and ordered fried rice, it was like mountain high! Lost my appetite just by looking at it man.
Third day – 22 July
Woke up bright and shiny for the “highlight of the trip” – Disneyland. Afraid we might not be able to get the tickets, we started our day at seven (without the boys -couldn’t persuade the “principled” to go.Woo, the tickets showed Mickey and Minnie, so nice ah.
Anyway, trip to Disneyland(Hongkong) was very disappointing. It is not very big, in fact it’s like Sentosa. Rides weren’t very thrilling (I wouldn’t have dared if it’s too scary though) but the thing that caused the trip to Disney was the people – kids. Never really liked kids, but it’s ok I can live with them. But the bunch there was not just kids, they were erm – C Kids (make a guess – clue: country). Irritating like hell this bunch of people, pushing and rushing in the queue. Even my kids-loving bf got irritated. What is shocking was that the parents were instigating the kids to rush and push.
Tomorrowland
First ride we took was some stupid spaceship ride (think “dumbo ride” where you can navigate up and down”). Went to take fastpass for the rollercoaster ride. And proceeded to Buzz Lightyear. Never been a fan of Buzz, but this turned out to be one of my favourite rides. It’s interactive, like a life game where there’s this gun and you can use it to shoot targets and gain points!! Of course, he won, boo.
Took the rollercoaster ride next, for the whole disney trip we were always in the front carriage for the rides. Wasn’t really good for the rollercoaster ride though, cause I am so wussy and scared of thrill rides! Tried so hard to keep my composure. Couldn’t make it for Lilo and Stitch show.
At around noon, after nearly one and half hrs in Tomorrowland, we were damn shag and settled for lunch and the much needed -Coke. Ah… really rejuvenated us and kept us going.
Next up – Fantasyland
In fantasyland, we took the carousel and my facvourite 4-d show!! So cool cause at some parts where there was a water spill, we could feel it. I loved it so much we went back again later. Hehe.
We also queued for the Mickey Awards show where I was so tired I snooze for a while.
Took the tram to the entrance where we went to Adventureland afterwards
Adventureland – the smallest and not very fun land to be in
Shopped for like an hour in the mercandise stores and left Disneyland a disappointed girl cause it didn’t leave up to my expectations at all! And after I came back everyone told me how it was stupid to go – nevermind at least I can say I went Disney before! Next one – Tokyo’s?
Met up for dinner with the boys and shopped around again.
Fourth day – 23 July
Trip to Shenzhen, ate yummy porridge and tim sum for breakfast – satisfying.Trip to Shenzhen took nearly one and half hour, changing trains and clearing customs. The only interesting thing was the customs. Damn scared cause they look so fierce and for the first time I was questioned by a customs officer cause of a comma in my passport. Surprisingly I have not never noticed it and it’s in my passport too! Gosh.
Shenzhen was boring – all felt like it was such a wasted trip and left after barely an hr there. Had to clear customs again. Went back to more shopping and went to a Jap restaurant for dinner(sucky).
Went to Langham Place. Interesting event: Shuzhan asked a shop owner to take a pic. Quite pretty lar. But so weird. I would freak out if I’m the girl man.
Fifth day – 24 July
Last day, where most of the shopping (at least for me) was done. Zh got his Man U mahjong set too. So left HK a satisfied shopper. Well, never got much just two tops, a dress (my convo ball dress – that is selling for 50 bucks at Far East which I got for 20), two bags, berms for bro, mj set for sis and that’s about it!
Took a while to clear customs and gobbled down dinner before going to the bus which would take us to our plane. So pathetic ah, budget airlines need to take bus cause they are parked in the middle. Hehe.
Anyway, a pic of the two of us
More pics: www.shortfart.shutterfly.com (gave up on webshots). Pics from Zh’s cam only. (Did I mentioned I spoilt his cam? Yea,dropped the pouch where the cam was in and spoilt the slider. Thankfully we can still take pictures.) Trip marred by my mistakes.
